CBUK - Reputation Management

"The Policy Partnership enabled us to present our case in a clear and very structured way to the world's media as they criticised the late delivery of the iconic Wembley National Stadium. It was a fine balance and The Policy Partnership worked hard to ensure that we were able to air our views without prejudicing our legal case."
Jon Dale, CEO, Cleveland Bridge UK

With a global reputation for landmark construction and as the designers of some of the world's most renowned steel structures, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Cleveland Bridge UK and its sister company, Doorman Long Technologies, had a strong interest in protecting their reputation when challenged in the UK High Court by Australian construction giant, Multiplex.

The Policy Partnership worked with the company's management and its shareholder to develop a media relations strategy that reinforced the company's skills, expertise and experience as the nation's confidence in the Wembley Stadium project declined. This was done using existing and newly developed media contacts in the national press, trade media, international news wire services, broadcasters and on-line portals. The Policy Partnership provided candid, timely and concise briefings from the early days of the litigation in 2003 to the four-week trial in 2006.

While CBUK had a mixed result in the High Court judgment, its reputation remained intact. No orders or contracts were cancelled as a result of the court procedures and CBUK maintained their standing as a deliverer of high quality structures on time and on budget.
